Interoperability & evaluation

Integration designed for hospital reality.

Interoperability is not achieved by adding the words “API-ready.” Every institution has different systems, profiles, terminologies, workflows and responsibilities.

SICC integration will be defined with each institution's technical, clinical, data-protection and security teams.

Interoperability direction

Standards on the development roadmap.

01

ICD-10-CM/PCS for hospital coding workflows

02

HL7 v2 messages where exposed by the institution

03

FHIR R4/R4B resources and profiles

04

Agreed API-based import and export

05

Federated identity and access control

06

Audit-event export

07

Mappings to officially identified national clinical catalogues

Availability and scope will be validated project by project. Listing these standards does not constitute conformance certification or a currently deployed integration.

Data flow and boundary

Map before integrating.

Before connecting any clinical source, the fields, identifiers, endpoints, flow direction, storage, access, logs, retention and deletion are documented.

The evaluation architecture is defined for each institution: a dedicated local instance or a dedicated EU/EEA cloud environment. Direct identifiers and re-identification information remain within the agreed institutional boundary.

Synthetic or irreversibly anonymised data is preferred wherever possible. Where pseudonymised data is required, it continues to be treated as personal data under the GDPR.

Evaluation partners

Seeking controlled-evaluation partners.

VGSI welcomes hospitals, coding teams, digital-health units and academic groups interested in studying governed AI for clinical coding. The proposed pathway is to:

01

Define the question and workflow

02

Establish the baseline without assuming benefit

03

Complete data-protection, security, ethics and regulatory gates

04

Prefer synthetic or anonymised data; where pseudonymised data is required, treat it fully as personal data

05

Compare against expert review

06

Document results, errors, limitations and continuation decisions

An evaluation will not be presented as a commercial endorsement or clinical validation.
